Common questions

Is my data sent to the cloud?
No. Klip transfers everything directly between your devices over your local network. There is no cloud relay, no remote server storing your clipboard or files.
How secure is Klip?
All connections use TLS 1.3 with auto-generated ECDSA P-256 certificates. Peer identity is verified using TOFU (trust on first use) with certificate fingerprint pinning. Your clipboard data never travels unencrypted.
macOS blocks Klip on first launch — what do I do?
macOS Gatekeeper may block Klip because it is not signed with an Apple Developer certificate. To open it: right-click the app and select Open, then confirm in the dialog. Alternatively, run xattr -cr /path/to/klip-darwin-arm64 in Terminal.
Windows Defender flags Klip as suspicious
This is a false positive — Klip is unsigned but fully open source. You can review the code or build it yourself from the GitHub repository.
How many devices can I connect?
The free version supports up to 2 activations. Klip Pro raises the limit to 10 activations.
Is Pro a subscription?
No. Klip Pro is a one-time purchase that gives you lifetime access. No recurring fees, no expiration.
Does Klip work between different operating systems?

No. Klip uses mDNS to automatically discover other Klip devices on your local network. Just launch it and it finds your other devices.
Is there a file size limit?
